DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL, organizes today the second module of the Corporate Automotive Logistics Academy 4.0 (CALA 4.0) with a focus on "After Sales Network Design". The module will be presented on November 19, 2014 in Cologne, Germany and aims to address the challenges of the after sales market and network design as well as the important role industry 4.0 and the new technologies will play in the future. The modular training program was developed on behalf of Volker Oesau, CEO Middle Europe of DHL Global Forwarding in cooperation with BVL Campus, the educational institution of the global supply chain experts BVL International, and trains participants to become experts in automotive logistics.
"We see it as a key success factor to create an environment for talent in the automotive industry to succeed in this highly competitive market environment. Effective talent management and learning requires new ways of leading and collaborating. We are glad that with the BVL Campus we have found the ideal partner to support the automotive logistics industry," said Christiane Beimel, Head of CALA 4.0, Vice President Value Added Services Germany, DHL Global Forwarding.
Further learning possibilities
The current module focuses on "After Sales Network Design" and addresses the challenges and opportunities of the after sales market. Professor Dr. rer.pol., Nils Hagen, Dean of the Faculty of Technology and Management at the University of Applied Science in Ravensburg Weingarten and specialist for after sales will lead the scientific sessions throughout the day. The attendees have the opportunity to take a joint look from various perspectives - scientific, practical and cultural - at the new challenges in the field of automotive logistics. Afterwards an online platform offers further learning possibilities. Upon completing all modules, all participants will receive a certificate.
"The automobile industry is one of the most globally networked sectors - in terms of sourcing as well as production and distribution. It is also among the pioneers when it comes to implementing process-oriented supply chain concepts. This industry is therefore especially complex and challenging for supply chain experts and will become even more so in the future. BVL is happy to foster the development of talents for the automotive logistics sector by cooperating with DHL on the CALA training programme", says Professor Thomas Wimmer, Chairman of the Executive Board of BVL.
DHL Global Forwarding has set itself the goal of shaping the future of global automotive logistics through close collaboration with automobile manufacturers, suppliers and the scientific community, and in the process, assuming an active leadership role in the field. The academy offers a unique concept in cooperative, interactive knowledge creation as well as knowledge transfer and management for all areas and levels of global automotive logistics. The aim of CALA 4.0 is to provide a global qualification program for the automotive logistics providers of the future.
CALA 4.0 was launched in autumn last year and offers eight modules encompassing a vehicle's life cycle, with a consistent focus on the challenges and latest developments in the global automotive industry. DHL Global Forwarding will expand the training further and offer it on a global scale with the next module taking place in Brazil in 2015.
